Cafe Assistant in a Vibrant Community Cafe near Docklands Campus
Want to learn new skills and support your local community in a vibrant friendly environment? The Garden Community Cafe works much like a community centre, supporting the local area, but we have the benefit that anyone may walk through our doors for a simple cup of tea, then meet and connect with people in their area. The cafe is located a short distance from UEL's Docklands Campus. The cafe runs various projects with unemployed individuals, young people and those with mental health and learning difficulties. To be sustainable the cafe opens a kitchen Monday to Friday and needs volunteers to help it continue.
Your role may involve serving customers, making drinks and engaging with our community. We don't expect anyone to have any previous experience in a cafe and this opportunity is ideal training for working within any customer service environment or barista role. We will ask you to work one day a week for a maximum of 6 hours for that day, the days and times are flexible.
The Garden Cafe, E163DJ
Lunch is provided, up to a value of £5. Travel Expenses can be covered if required. Basic barista training is provided on site.
No formal training is required and no experience in a kitchen or cafe is required. However, an eagerness to learn and a can-do attitude is.
The closest station is Prince Regent DLR, just 5 minutes walk away. We are also on bus routes 147, 300 and 473. Parking is not available for cars as permits are required in the area.
